I nominate myself for the stupidest cyclist award 08. I was riding down Kennedy with I think two other guys – Christian and someone whose name I don’t know. I had gotten a little ahead and saw a group of cyclists going west down a side road. One of them was wearing a blue jacket, which at a distance, and if you’re delusional, might have looked like a BCC jacket. So I took of in pursuit and caught them in short order, a sure give away that they were not from BCC. Long and short of it, I ended up riding south down Warden across the Stouffville Road and back over to Kennedy. There I hit a bunch of road blocks for some race, but I kept going to some side road. The cop there said, you’re riding with a group right. I said yes so he pointed me east and more or less said, they went thata way. I road over to Warden again. I thought this is nuts, so I went down Warden, which was busy, until I hit a road that said Unionville was west. I went west towards Unionville and followed a road that said to Downtown Unionville. Unfortunately I missed what should have been the left turn into downtown and Starbucks and continued along some stupid road that lead me to back to Warden, at which point, I said “F It” and headed south. Interestingly I ran into two guys going down Warden who had dropped out of the “Donut Ride” at about the 40 km. point. The one guy knew about BCC, lives near Birchmount and Danforth, and was thinking about joining us today, except it “too early” (the wuss). I talked up the club and left him at St. Clair, where I headed west and home.

I think I must have ended up doing close to 100 kms, without my usual coffee repose. I arrived home cold, sore, tired and a little chaffed.

I have two goddamn degrees, you’d think I would read the map carefully and note the turns.

So I hereby nominate myself for the stupidest cyclist award 08.

Otherwise it was good ride, if a little chilly.

A.

James - thanks for the neck warmer. The hat was buried at the bottom of the laundry bin.

Thanks all for the pulls coming home!
