2008 Ride for Karen
What's that saying - in rain or shine? Well it was mostly rain for the 2008 Ride for Karen. Dave, Jeff, James, Steve and I set off at 9:00 AM with the 35km/hr group. It was a great ride despite the weather because the reason for the ride - raising money to send children with cancer to camp - was an incredible motivator. We headed out and 5 and 1/2 hours later we crossed the finish line. Well four of us did. Jeff was the power house of the BCC crew and finished well before the rest of us. Dave, James and Steve took turns pulling me along since my legs felt that they had had enough at about 60 km. Congratulations to the group for a ride well done. We have all agreed that we will be in the 2009 Ride for Karen. Any one interested in joining us?
The picture was taken before the ride. What a handsome lot we are! Notice that we are smiling and we are clean and dry!

Glad to hear that you had a good, safe ride! I was thinking of you guys while pedalling home in the rain on Sunday! I would love to join you guys for the ride next year, and hopefully with the new bike I will have (right Dan?) I'll be able to keep up!

The conditions were miserable but we knew any discomfort we were experiencing was temporary and that may not be true for those we were riding for.
The 2008 "Steve Wolowich Award for True Grit and Courage" goes to Greg M. 160 km in truly cruel conditions without so much as a pair of arm warmers and nary a complaint! Hardcore!
The entire BBC crew rode with dignity, honour and panache.
Let's mark our calendars for September 2009.
James
