Thanks all, Dan especially for an amazing ride! FYI, factoring in the trip from The Beach to Mary Curtis and back (plus a hill climb on Kingston to Cycle Solutions and back home) I got an even 161km. I'll put the details on my blog later today.
Great ride! That is an impressive max speed, Dan. I will not be posting mine. Most of the roads we were on made me think "this is what it is all about". Quiet tree-lined roads with little traffic and a great bunch of people to share it with. A passionate group to say the least...what other group would have such a consistently huge turnout at 6 am?? Dan....kudos!! Dan it was too bad you missed seeing that train...it really was beautiful but maybe next time eh? Actually if it weren't for that train I think we were planning on turning south when we got to Yonge St.
Special thanks to Dave S for doing that "hill" with me and Emile /Gord for helping keep the group together.
I won't be there next week but I suggest checking out the course at least the day before....

Shite - It appears I missed the ride of the season. Congrats to the ones in for the long ride. I saw Emile and Thai burning up Kingston Road on their way back while I was on my way to work. They were climbing that hill faster than I was descending.
See you in a few weeks. May my legs be ready!

Hi Dan,
The glowing comments I wrote to the group are sincere, you are guiding us awesomely.Your good sense of humour comes in handy to take all of us wacky characters. Besides our inability to follow the route, you would have been proud of how well and tight and safe the group rode together. Great pics as always!
If Rattlesnake wins the vote, or if we can go again later in the year, here is a deviation in the route that will get those who want to go back up the escarpment but can't/won't get up Rattlesnake climb twice, back up the escarpment:
Same route up Appleby to Campbellville Rd., RIGHT at Tremaine.
THEN: RIGHT at Steeles, long steady low gear climb west along Steeles to Bell School, LEFT at Bell School down the screamer.
I think all levels of rider would be OK with it and you can still incorporate laps of the 10km circuit.
There is also a farm market at the base of the Bell School hill (just north of Derry) that has excellent pies, pastries, sandwiches, fresh picked berries, hot and cold beverages with a shady indoor/outdoor seating area as a possible stopping place.
Please ponder,
Thanks,
Mike
