Basic Gear

Here is a list of the basic gear that you need to have for riding with the group.
  • Sunglasses (acts as a wind shield)
  • Spare tube
  • CO2 inflater or pump
  • tire lever
  • multi-tool
  • Water or sports drink (1 bottle minimum for 1 hour ride, 2 for longer rides)
  • Food for rides that last longer than an hour
  • Clipless pedals and cycling shoes (no flats!)
  • Some money for danish and coffee
  • Gloves (fingerless or otherwise, protects from falls)
  • Helmet (we all know this one I hope)
  • Clipless pedals and cycling shoes (did I say that already?)

Note: Clipless pedals give you more control over your bike and contribute to a more effective and efficient pedal stroke. Using flat shoes and pedals is not safe for long distances and higher speeds as your foot can fall off the pedal. Finally, you can apply a lot more leverage with a proper cycling shoe. If you don't have them, go get them!

Certainly the most important item is money for the danish. I noticed that danish is singualr - any reason for that?

Have you tried saying Danishes out loud in public? :-)
