I hope that nobody minds me posting this, but I wanted to share the details of this ride with you.
This summer, Charles Prinsep underwent a truly epic ride from Vancouver Island down to San Diego, which he documented on his blog. I followed Charlie's travels on a regular basis, and have such great respect for his accomplishments. Sadly, Charlie was killed at the age of 23 on August 4, while riding home to Toronto from Vancouver along the TransCanada highway.
I got to know Charlie through unusual circumstances, through the "Toronto Fixed Gear" community on the bikeforums.net website. Although I never got a chance to ride with him, I feel lucky that I got a chance to know him online.
This Friday at 6, there will be a memorial ride in his honour, starting at Jet Fuel Coffee on Parliament just north of Carlton. I will be there, and all others who wish to pay their respects in memory are welcome to join.

The turnout for tonight's ride was incredible.. at first count, we had nearly 150 people out. Thanks for your support Steve -- I'm sorry I lost track of you once the ride started.
